Formatting Guidelines

  • Send all submissions to authylem@gmail.com

  • In the subject line of your email, please state the genre. Please send each submission in a separate email, even if you are submitting multiple pieces of work to the same genre.

  • In the body of your email, include a brief cover letter with the name of your piece as well as a brief author bio. Since we will be prioritizing unpublished writers, please include how many times you have been published or if you have never been published in your cover letter. Don’t worry if you’ve never written a bio for yourself before—just tell us anything you’d like for people to know, in the event that your piece is selected for publication.

  • We will accept simultaneous submissions as long as the author notifies us as soon as their piece has been picked up elsewhere.

  • To preserve a blind judging process and eliminate bias, please do not include your name anywhere on the documents themselves.

  • We will only accept .doc, .docx, and .pdf files for written submissions.

  • For art submissions please upload your piece in the format that allows for the best quality, but be prepared to make changes upon request during the design process (regarding scans, png, mixed media art, etc.)

  • There is no limit to the number of pieces you can submit. However, be aware that having a higher number of pieces submitted may not increase your chances of being published, as we will be seeking to include new voices over repeat authors.

  • Please do not submit work that has been published elsewhere (pieces self-published on personal blogs or websites will be considered on a case by case basis, so long as the author notifies us of these circumstances).

  • If you have any questions, email us at authylem@gmail.com or DM us on social media. If emailing, please use the subject line "question for submissions"
